Recently released records from the office of former special counsel Jack Smith reveal a vast web of communications between President Donald Trump's most vocal Republican allies in Congress and key players in his bid to subvert the results of the 2020 election.

According to emails from January 2023 circulated among Smith's deputies, top GOP lawmakers directly communicated with individuals later identified by Smith as Trump's co-conspirators in his election interference plot.

These included attorneys Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, who worked closely with Trump to challenge the election outcome. Republican congresscritters have been howling for months about Smith's investigators having subpoenaed some of their phone records.

Some of these records indicate that these lawmakers were unwitting pawns or
