According to the British Association for Dermatologists, the skincare products seen on social media, such as retinol, can cause damage to young skin. Mental health issues like anxiety and insomnia now affect 77% of girls by age 17, with half experiencing these problems before 14.

However, there are signs of resistance against this trend. W magazine has launched WYouth, a new offering aimed at rebuilding the tween magazine market. Conversations around phone use in schools and social media access are underway, with experts sounding the alarm about the potential harm.
