Swatch and audemars piguet tease affordable royal oak collaboration
Swatch, the popular watchmaker, has been teasing a new release through a series of cryptic advertisements in The Guardian. The enigmatic visuals closely resembled the original rollout of the wildly successful MoonSwatch in 2022, sparking speculation about a potential new collaboration. The mystery has now been solved: Swatch is teaming up with esteemed luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet to create an affordable take on the Royal Oak model. This unprecedented partnership brings together two Swiss icons, fusing bold aesthetics with haute horlogerie.

Audemars piguet x swatch: a disruptive collaboration
The Royal Oak is AP's most iconic and sought-after model, known for its distinctive octagonal bezel and intricate mechanical movements. Swatch has taken cues from its POP watch collection, which debuted in 1986 and featured interchangeable dials and straps. The new collaboration is expected to retain this customization aspect, allowing wearers to personalize their timepiece. Teasers suggest the initial release will come in a range of colors including white, pink, green, orange, yellow, red, light blue, and navy.
While details on the exact form factor remain under wraps, a lanyard was spotted in one teaser, hinting at a bioceramic pocket watch design. The Swatch x AP collection is set to launch on May 16, with the possibility of a limited boutique release, similar to the MoonSwatch rollout. Fans of both brands are eagerly awaiting more information, as well as a chance to get their hands on this unique and affordable fusion of high-end watchmaking and playful design.
